Meet Linnea
Welcome and I’m glad you’re here - whether your journey with counselling is just beginning or you’ve sought counselling in the past, I commend you on taking steps towards creating the shifts that will be beneficial to you in your healing. As a Registered Clinical Counsellor, part of my role is to guide you in re-connecting with who you really are (that inner “self” or “pilot light” that’s always there), and to help you navigate a path forward that is in line with what’s truly important to you.
Client concerns that I am experienced in working with includes trauma and PTSD (including single-event trauma, complex trauma, trauma of oppression, and intergenerational trauma), anxiety, depression, family of origin concerns, body image concerns, stress, and burnout. My approach is integrative, holistic, but also realistic - though I draw upon a number of counselling modalities, I’ll work with you to determine what models will work for you personally based on your goals. I also strive to maintain an anti-oppressive position in my work and I welcome all identities.
I believe that counselling can and should be a relaxed and safe-enough experience so you can explore what's most important to you. In sessions together, you can expect to be met with warmth, compassion, curiosity, and at times, humour. I like to check-in about how things are going to get a sense of what's been helpful for you and what hasn't been (so we can stick with what works for you!). I truly consider it a privilege and an honour to witness and support others in my work as a therapist.
I reside and work on the unceded traditional territories of Qualicum and Snaw'naw'as First Nations (also known as Parksville on Vancouver Island). Outside of my work, I often can be found spending time with family and friends, walking my dog (a sassy husky-cross named Reno!), doing photography, or buying too many books.
